Grundomat Mat Piles – Efficient, Low-Impact Foundation Solutions

Lightweight Equipment • Minimal Vibration • Ideal for Restricted Access Sites

Grundomat Mat Piles are a specialist bottom-driven mini piling system that uses compact pneumatic or hydraulic tools to drive 100–150mm steel tubes into the ground without the need for large piling rigs. Once the casing reaches the required depth, it is reinforced and filled with concrete or grout to create a reliable, durable foundation element with minimal disruption to the surrounding area.

Why Choose Grundomat Piling?

  • Perfect for Confined & Low-Headroom Projects: Lightweight and compact equipment, ideal for internal piling, extensions, and restricted sites.
  • Low Vibration & Quiet Operation: Bottom-driven method significantly reduces noise and vibration, suitable for use near sensitive structures.
  • Zero Spoil Removal: Displaces soil rather than excavates it—no muck-away, reduced mess, and lower disposal costs.
  • Fast & Efficient Installation: Quickly installed in confined spaces, reducing programme duration and disruption.
  • Cost-Effective: Minimal plant requirements, no spoil, and reduced labour make it highly economical for smaller projects.
  • Versatile Load Support: Can be grouped or clustered to support higher load requirements if needed.

Design & Installation Overview

  1. Set out pile positions and prepare access.
  2. Drive the closed-ended steel casing using the Grundomat hammer.
  3. Add casing sections until the design depth or driving resistance is achieved.
  4. Insert reinforcement and fill the tube with concrete or grout.
  5. Connect piles to the structural foundation using a capping beam or footing.

Typical Applications

  • House extensions, conservatories, and garden rooms
  • Internal piling for basements, cellars, and refurbishments
  • Underpinning and foundation strengthening
  • Lightweight commercial structures
  • Projects requiring low noise, low vibration, or minimal access disruption

Safe working loads usually fall within 50–100kN depending on ground conditions and pile diameter.

Project Advantages

Minimal disturbance, reduced spoil, and low-impact works protecting nearby structures.

Services FAQ

For sites with limited access or low headroom (like basements or rear gardens), we use SFA (Segmental Flight Auger), Grundomat, or Helical piling. These methods utilise compact, handheld, or modular equipment that avoids the need for large rigs.
We use ODEX piling for challenging strata. This method cases the hole simultaneously while drilling, preventing bore collapse in loose soil and allowing us to penetrate through boulders, fill, or rock obstructions securely.
Yes. Beyond piling, our Reinforced Concrete (RC) teams construct piled rafts, ground beams, and retaining walls. This ‘one-stop’ approach ensures seamless integration, faster delivery, and clearer accountability for your project.
Absolutely. We specialise in vibration-free and low-noise techniques (such as CFA, SFA, and Helical piling) that protect adjacent structures and minimise disruption to neighbours, fully compliant with environmental standards.
Yes. We design and install Contiguous and Secant piled walls to retain earth and exclude water for basement excavations. These are engineered to withstand high lateral loads and integrate with the final structure.
We operate with strict adherence to Eurocode 7, BS EN standards, and NHBC requirements. We provide full design warranties, collateral warranties, and comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) logs for every pile installed.
